PILATES STUDIO CLASSES: The Capital Athletic Club offers several levels of Reformer classes as well as Tower/Circuit classes. Members may reserve a spot in class one day prior to or on the day of class. (Members are required to complete the Quick Start Program before attending classes in the Pilates studio.) Please see the information below.
QUICK START PROGRAM: An Introduction to the fundamental Pilates Reformer exercises in 3 private training sessions will prepare you for our Pilates Principles and Reformer Level 1 classes. The Quick Start program teaches the importance of body awareness, breath, control and the significance of the Reformer. This program is required BEFORE members can participate in classes offered in the Pilates Studio, 3 private sessions for $150.00.
REFORMER II : An intermediate, fast paced class, Reformer II offers more challenge to students’ balance, endurance and coordination with more difficult Pilates Reformer exercises. All Reformer II students are required to go through the Level II assessment with the Pilates Director. YOGA/PILATES ON THE REFORMER I: A yoga-based Reformer class that combines the essential Pilates repertoire with movement patterns from Yoga to strengthen the core muscles of the body. With fewer repetitions and holding poses or stretches longer, this class emphasizes strength, flexibility and balance. A minimum of 10 Reformer 1 classes is recommended.
Yoga/Pilates Reformer II: An athletic yoga based class that uses the essential Pilates Repertoire.
TOWER/CIRCUIT 1: A Pilates equipment circuit class that combines work on the Reformer, Tower and Jump Board designed to develop both muscular and cardiovascular strength and endurance. Some standing floor work is included. A challenging class that works the mind and body in all planes of movement. Although this is a Level 1 class, a minimum of 10 Reformer 1 classes is recommended.
PILATES PRINCIPLES: A fundamental Reformer class that emphasizes the core Principles of the Pilates Method. Developing a deeper mind-body connection through the foundational Reformer exercises, Pilates students of all levels and experience can improve their Pilates practice in this class.
